Architects move into Pacific House – and tech firm expands
Posted on November 23, 2020
Architects CPL are moving into offices in Pacific House, while existing occupier SystemActive has expanded into its second office within the building.
CPL Chartered Architects specialises in designing contemporary ecclesiastical and residential developments across the country, including a growing list of projects across the south east, south west, midlands and north east.
It also designs youth centres, conference venues and facilities for people with special needs. CPL’s projects include Bristol’s St Michael’s Church Centre, Egham’s St John’s Church (pictured), Prestwood’s Holy Trinity Church, Bermondsey’s Salmon Youth Centre and Eastbourne’s JPK sheltered housing facility and new Emmanuel Church.
The company’s southern office has been based on the Chaucer Business Park in Polegate, East Sussex, for the last nine years, until the firm recently undertook an assessment of its properties. Its management team looked at a range of options around the Eastbourne area and chose to relocate to Pacific House.
Phil Winch, Principal Architect, explains:
“We have projects right across the country and need effective systems for flexible, remote working. We undertook a premises review to support that and decided to move to a new office hub where our team can get together for meetings and collaborative work.
“We agreed Pacific House was the best option for us. We like its location in Sovereign Harbour and – as architects ourselves – appreciate the thoughtful building design with its central, top-lit atrium spaces. We were also attracted by the high-quality shared facilities and chance to be part of a community of professional firms.”
CPL is furnishing its new office on the second floor of Pacific House, ready to move in by early December. You can see more about the company on its website at: www.cplarchitects.co.uk.
Meanwhile, tech firm SystemActive, which has been in Pacific House since 2018, is expanding into a second office on the ground floor of the building to accommodate its growth.
Established in 1998, SystemActive is an IT hardware provider, supplying computer equipment to all types of businesses and education establishments from small law firms to global media companies and schools throughout the UK. It has 15 employees in Pacific House with additional staff in Heathfield and Tamworth.
Dean Lang, SystemActive Director, says:
“We’re growing rapidly with no intention of slowing down! And I’m grateful to our customers, colleagues and partners for their support and loyalty throughout the years which has driven this growth.
“Pacific house is perfect for us. We originally moved here from Heathfield because the easy transport routes from surrounding areas enables us to hire great employees. The area has everything from nice restaurants and bars to superstores and clothing shops. We’re also walking distance from the beach, which helps for those stressful days! There’s a strong sense of community within the building: everyone’s friendly and we all help each other where we can.
“To accommodate our expansion, we never considered a change of location because we love it here. We’d like to take even more space within the building next year if we continue our current expansion.”
